There are many reasons why a company might want to hire someone who is a technician, including learning how to fix the company’s computer network or designing the company’s next generation network. But the hiring manager must decide if it would be practical to hire someone with the necessary skills for the job.

This is not a guarantee of employment, but it helps to provide insight into the applicant’s technical savvy and ensures the hiring manager can easily assess whether or not that person would be able to handle technical support jobs at a future employer.
Technicians are also hired as information security specialists, because they are excellent at analyzing computer systems and determining how to patch vulnerabilities. This helps protect both internal computer systems and the company’s network. Many people fail their first interview because they do not possess technical skills. Applicants with a passion for technology and a strong work ethic will make an excellent information security technologist or information security specialist.
